Eyelid lifts are aesthetic surgeries that aim to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.  Most patients who undergo an eyelid lift seek to correct upper eyelid hooding, remove lower eyelid bags, or tighten loose skin of the lower eyelids.

In some patients, their upper eyelids become droopy due to excess skin laxity in conjunction with a poorly functioning lid elevation mechanism, which results in ptosis. In patients whose vision is affected by hanging upper lids, blepharoplasty with ptosis correction will be necessary in order to fully correct the visual field defects.

Patients who undergo upper or lower eyelid surgery normally experience swelling of the eyelids themselves, but this can also affect the tissues around the eyes. This can cause them to notice mild alterations in their vision such as blurriness or difficulty focusing, but these are temporary issues which most often resolve on their own as the swelling subsides.
