Breast Augmentation – Saline or Silicone Implants?

Breast augmentation surgery offers many options for patients, including a wide range of implant sizes, surgical approaches, and filling material. Dr. Hutchinson performs breast augmentation in Manhattan and will take the time to guide you through the selection process. At the time of your consultation, she will examine you and discuss the available surgical options and make recommendations that suit your individual physique and wishes. Approaches for breast augmentation include incisions around the nipple (periareolar), under the breast (inframammary), and in the armpit (transaxillary). Breast implants may be placed either under the breast itself (subglandular) or under the pectoralis major muscle (submuscular). The filling material is either saline fluid or silicone gel.
Breast augmentation may be combined with breast lift (mastopexy) in order to achieve more perky, shapely breasts in addition to increasing the volume of the breasts. Dr. Hutchinson will determine whether this is indicated in your case and discuss this option with you, as well as answer any questions you may have.
